The sexual behaviour of young people (2011)

The work is inspired by the book The Sexual behaviour of Young People (Michael Schofield, 1968) which is written in a strictly academic manner lacking any sense of poetic romanticism. Similarly, the images are taken in such a way the viewer becomes witness to the actions as a kind of scientific study. The individual and combined actions as well as the relative space between the subjects are emphasised.

The images are a form of behavioural study where we see conscious emphasis placed on the space, actions, gestures and movements as a form of flirtation and desire the occurs between the individuals being performed both consciously and unconsciously. Simple actions becomes metaphors for sexual acts. The awkwardness that arises from the attempt to suppress physical intimacy results in these situations being created for the effect of dramatisation and performance.
